Outdoor Workout Tips To Help You Get The Most Out Of Your Sweat Session

Many of us are still waiting for our favourite studios to open their doors again. Luckily, there are plenty of great ways to break a sweat outdoors where you can stay safe and enjoy a little dose of nature. Here are a few tips to help you get the most of your outdoor workout!

Stay Hydrated

Consider taking in more water than you would normally drink during an indoor workout. Why? Because Mother Nature doesn’t use air conditioning. She follows her own plan and it might not include a refreshing breeze. So, if you’re used to downing a bottle of water during your indoor workout make sure you take in a second one if you’re working out outdoors on a hot day. This will help prevent muscle cramps, headaches, and other, potentially more serious, conditions like heat stroke.

Get Creative

Lugging around heavy workout equipment can be a pain. And, more often than not, it’s not necessary! There are so many creative ways to utilize what is already available in most parks and backyards to curate a challenging and effective circuit. Find a set of stairs to get your cardio in. Use a park bench for push ups and tricep dips. Have a little fun doing some pull-ups on the monkey bars and embrace your inner child while you’re at it.

Finally, look for lightweight accessories that can help add resistance or increase the difficulty of your routine. Resistance bands, sliding discs, and booty bands are all great on-the-go options to kick your outdoor workouts into high gear.

Install Xpand’s Quick-Release Lacing System

When it comes to your workouts, you can’t underestimate the importance of proper footwear. That means laces too. We always recommend our Quick-Release Lacing System for fitness lovers. These incredible laces adjust to your needs quickly and can hold up to 30 lbs of pressure. In other words, you can count on them no matter what you have in store for your workout.

Find A Workout Buddy

The great part about an outdoor workout is that you can do it with a friend or in a small group. Find a space that is large enough to allow you to abide by appropriate physical distancing measures and let the good times roll! It’s tough to stay on track with a workout program when our usual fitness routines aren’t available. But, having an accountability partner or group can help you find the motivation you need to stick with it.

Do Something You Love

Remember, an outdoor workout doesn’t necessarily need to be all push-ups and burpees. The trick to a sustainable workout program is finding something that you love. So, find your thing! Maybe it’s a long bike ride, a trail run, or a round of tennis with a friend. There is no shortage of great ways to get your body moving.

Our last bonus tip? Be kind to yourself! If you’re not feeling particularly motivated to workout there’s no need to beat yourself up. It’s been a challenging year and adjusting to a new normal is never easy. So, take it one day at a time and don’t get discouraged. The Xpand team will be right here with more tips and tricks on how to move smarter so keep it locked!
